Quick reference
Experience
Primary effects
- Even at a single seed, causes a "heady strangeness" and a mildly dissociative state, with a sense of disconnection from the visible world and greater visual acuity.
- Can induce vivid, sometimes weird dreams and, at higher doses, full delirium and hallucinations (a sign of near-fatal overdose).
Peak character
- Subtle psychoactivity, leading to self-reflection and a neutral mood, possibly a mild feeling of disconnection and fragmented sensory processing.
Negatives / side effects
- Extremely toxic; delirium and hallucinations are signs of near-fatal overdose, carrying high risk of death.
- Highly variable potency even within a single plant's seeds makes accurate dosing impossible, with a single seed's strength potentially varying seven-fold.
- Adverse effects include seizures, hyperthermia, cardiovascular issues, organ failure, rhabdomyolysis, and permanent brain damage.
- Users often experience impaired judgment, memory loss, and may become out of control, unaware of their actions.
Aftereffects / comedown
- Sleep can be disturbed by vivid dreams, dry mouth, and frequent urination.
- Next-day effects may include a headache, a persistent "background buzz," and a lingering sense of strangeness.
Reagent testing
| Marquis | Orange/brown (tropane alkaloids — atropine, scopolamine) |
| Mandelin | Yellow → orange/brown |
Adulterant detection: Datura stramonium — atropine/scopolamine/hyoscyamine. All species of Datura are extremely dangerous with a very narrow margin between 'effective' and lethal doses. Reagents confirm alkaloid presence but cannot ensure safety.
CRITICAL DANGER: Datura is considered one of the most dangerous psychoactive plants. The difference between an 'active' dose and a lethal dose is extremely small and variable between plants and individual alkaloid concentrations. Reagent testing cannot ensure safety with this plant.
