Experience
Primary effects
- Induces an initial dreamy, heady, floating sensation that feels pleasant and euphoric, leading to difficulty focusing; quickly dissipates anxiety.
- Causes mild physical numbness and a detached, positive sensation; progresses rapidly into a gentle, tranquil state combining sedation with anxiolysis.
Peak character
- Characterized by a 'dreamy sheen on perception', a 'serene inebriation' with hypnotic edges; induces a dazed but not significantly tired state.
- Headspace is content and free from anxiety; physical movements become 'a bit weird' or 'off kilter', resembling a mild, gentle drunken intoxication without negative aspects.
- Can lead to social debilitation, making sustained interaction challenging; a strong urge to drift off to sleep may be present.
Negatives / side effects
- Functionality and concentration are impaired, making tasks like writing or walking difficult; can quickly incapacitate one for social interaction.
- Tolerance and addiction are significant risks with benzodiazepines, leading to potential struggles and tragedies.
Aftereffects / comedown
- Transitions from an initial 'heady driven weirdness' to a more traditional 'zoned-out phase' that is relaxed and closer to normality, with restored physical capability.
- Leads to a 'regular medicated sedation' for several hours, maintaining calmness and absence of stress, eventually causing tiredness and facilitating good sleep.
- Next day is typically 'a little subdued but generally fine'.

Adulterant detection: Street diazepam frequently substituted with more potent designer benzodiazepines. Fentanyl in counterfeit 'Valium' is documented.
Same caveat as all benzodiazepines — colorimetric tests confirm the benzo class but not which specific compound.
