Primary effects
- Traditional claims suggest aphrodisiac, energizing, cognitive enhancement, and antidepressant effects, though medical confirmation is lacking.
Peak character
- Users may feel clear and positive but otherwise normal; any effects are difficult to distinguish from placebo.
Aftereffects / comedown
- Users may feel a little heavy-headed the next morning but otherwise generally well.
- Generally leads to a feeling of being positive throughout.
Reagent testing
Adulterant detection: Panax ginseng — ginsenoside content. No standard colorimetric test. Adulteration with cheaper botanicals is the main risk; HPLC or TLC needed for authentication.
