Experience

Primary effects

  • Mild head inebriation, sedation, relaxation, and a sense of calm.
  • Dissolved anxieties and a gentle, pleasing mellow headiness, not strongly euphoric.
  • Potential for a mildly detached sedation, benign serenity, and slight uplifting mood.

Peak character

  • Dreamy, numbed distance from the world, creating a 'cloak of well-being'.
  • Enhanced comfort and a sustained elevation rather than an intense 'high'.

Negatives / side effects

  • Prone to overdose and addiction; do not mix with other CNS depressants, stimulants, or dissociatives.
  • Physical sensations like flushed face and chilly hands, and a faint hint of numbness.

Aftereffects / comedown

  • A calm, relaxed background aura subsiding into increasing sleepiness as the effects fade.
  • Tiredness becoming a dominant feature as the evening progresses, leading to sleep.

Expected reactions

Adulterant detection: Codeine cough syrup mixture. Counterfeit syrup with fentanyl or other opioids is an emerging danger.

Fentanyl strip test is strongly recommended for any illicit-market cough syrup.
