Experience

Primary effects

  • A mental stimulant providing a peaceful, relaxing, and lightly anaesthetic feeling; may alleviate anxiety and clarify vision.
  • Causes mild, hazy disorientation and a dreamlike/surreal 'dollhouse effect', where things appear as idealized copies.
  • Can induce mental lucidity, mild euphoria, and general relaxation.

Peak character

  • The effects are generally described as minor, mild, and sometimes 'boring', not strong or intrusive.

Negatives / side effects

  • Long and intensive use of wormwood can be poisonous and lead to addiction.
  • May result in stiffness, body aches (especially lower back), and dry mouth after use.

Aftereffects / comedown

  • Can lead to vivid, multiple, and recallable dreams, often lucid, though not always pleasant or controllable.
  • Recollections of the night after use may be odd and lacking, suggesting a pervasive influence.

Reagent testing

Adulterant detection: Artemisia absinthium — thujone content. No standard colorimetric test applicable.

Thujone is not detected by standard drug reagents. Low adulteration risk for dried herb.
