Adulterant detection: Multiple compounds — adulteration with synthetic compounds is the main risk. No single drug reagent test applicable.
GC/MS is the only reliable method for essential oil authentication. Adulteration with cheaper oils or synthetic compounds is a quality/safety issue for the supplement/aromatherapy market.
