Experience

Primary effects

  • Causes a mild intoxicating effect with a head sedation reminiscent of alcohol, but without euphoria.
  • Induces a dazed, slightly inebriated state with a strange headspace and altered disposition.

Peak character

  • Involves a detached, not-quite-with-it feeling, alongside relative clarity of vision when focused.
  • The qualitative feel is analogous to being 'half a pint to a pint of beer' intoxicated, with an 'edge of illness'.

Negatives / side effects

  • Dose-dependent risk of severe adverse effects including convulsions, vomiting, and loss of consciousness.
  • Can significantly lower heart rate (bradycardia) and blood pressure (hypotension), potentially leading to heart block or myocardial infarction.
  • Concentration of grayanotoxins varies, making consistent dosing difficult and increasing risk of overdose.

Aftereffects / comedown

  • Residual 'background presence' and general malaise with a mild headache and body ache.
  • Can lead to disturbed sleep and a feeling of having 'poisoned oneself'.

Adulterant detection: Rhododendron honey — grayanotoxins. No standard drug reagent test for grayanotoxins.

No applicable colorimetric test. Geographic sourcing (Black Sea region) and reputable supplier are the primary quality indicators.
