Experience
Primary effects
- Causes a mild change in headspace with a broad psychedelic feel.
- Psychoactive components remain potent when expelled in urine; historically, reindeer or human urine from intoxicated individuals was consumed to induce effects.
Peak character
- Characterized by a mild, unremarkable, and uncompelling psychedelic headspace.
Negatives / side effects
- Stories warn of a degree of toxicity and a high body load, prompting cautious dosing.
Aftereffects / comedown
- Effects fade eventually.
Reagent testing
Adulterant detection: Amanita muscaria — active compounds are muscimol and ibotenic acid; no standard colorimetric test available. Visual identification of the mushroom itself is the primary safety measure.
No standard colorimetric test for muscimol/ibotenic acid. Visual botanical identification is essential — other Amanita species are deadly (Amanita phalloides).
