  • Causes visual distortions like heavy drifting, double vision, and heightened perception of blurry edges.

Peak character

  • Can lead to deep immersion in mundane activities, finding them fascinating.
  • Experience is characterized by warmth, empathy, and a generally good vibe, even with mild effects.

Aftereffects / comedown

  • Experience slowly comes down into the night.

Reagent testing

Recommended reagents
Expected reactions
EhrlichPurple/violet (psilocybin/psilocin — indole tryptamines)
HofmannBlue → purple

Adulterant detection: Psilocybin mushrooms — Ehrlich strongly positive for psilocybin/psilocin. Additionally, genuine psilocybin mushrooms bruise blue when damaged (oxidation of psilocin) — this is a secondary visual indicator. Absence of Ehrlich reaction in purported mushroom extract or powder is a clear red flag.

The blue bruising reaction on fresh mushrooms is a useful secondary visual test. For extracts/powders: Ehrlich is the primary test. Identify mushrooms visually before consumption to avoid toxic lookalikes.
