Primary effects
- A strong mood lift and sense of elevation, particularly in a positive headspace.
- Brings about a happy, pleasant buzz, confidence, and a 'rolling' sensation with semi-euphoria.
- Can enhance sensuality and intimacy, though not necessarily leading to compulsive sexual interest.
Peak character
- Intensely pleasurable but can feel close to the edge, potentially leading to anxiety and impaired functionality.
- A dreamy high with a sensual edge; can cause hotness, sweating, and difficulty staying functional with flickering eyelids.
Negatives / side effects
- Over-hydration is a serious risk, just as dehydration is. Maintain moderate fluid intake.
- High doses, especially with redosing, can lead to overwhelming intensity, significant impairment, and jaw clenching (bruxism).
- Adulteration with highly toxic chemicals like PMA/PMMA, or other substances, is a significant risk; always test your MDMA.
Aftereffects / comedown
- Can result in a lingering headache and a general 'heady malaise' that persists into the next day.
- A slow, gradual comedown, followed by potential background depression and lack of positivity for several days.
- Establishing a long break (3 months, 6 weeks minimum) between uses is crucial for serotonin recovery and reducing negative aftereffects.

Reference ranges from third-party harm-reduction databases. Individual response varies enormously — start lower than you think.

Adulterant detection: Marquis purple/black is characteristic. Simon's positive (blue) confirms secondary amine = MDMA rather than MDA or 6-APB. PMA/PMMA are dangerous adulterants — they also give Marquis purple but more slowly; slow Marquis reaction is a red flag. Fentanyl in pressed pills increasingly documented.
CRITICAL: Test with both Marquis AND Simon's. A slow Marquis reaction relative to expected speed may indicate PMA/PMMA — extremely dangerous compounds. Fentanyl strip for pressed pills. Always use all four reagents for MDMA.
